I own a wooden soprano recorder, but I never play it anymore – I’m always playing this one. It has a very nice, warm sound. The price is a little high – if you’re just starting to learn the recorder, buy a cheaper student model. But if you already know the basics of recorder and want to improve your sound, then this is a good product for you.

I use only the gray rubber side, which is awesome beyond compare for practicing in your room away from the others. I don’t know what to do with the other black side…it’s very hard. I’m very pleased nonetheless.

This book has definitely taught me to play, and no other book I picked up came close. The Alfred book starts at the very beginning with pictures of numbered fingers and numbered keys. And within a few pages you're reading music and playing with two hands! The pace is appropriate for an adult, progressing quickly, but with full explanation of each new skill.

I would still recommend getting additional beginner books if you're serious about learning the piano, because it's useful to have a variety of resources, but this book is the one that taught me to play.

The product arrived much faster than expected and was well packaged. The actual cymbals vary a lot in finish from the picture but fill the need and sound fine.

To find one better, you'd have to spend 2-3 times as much for a marginal improvement (cheap wood, or wood/plastic mix). If you want to explore whether or not you want to learn to play the recorder, this is a good tester: not so expensive that you lose if you don't like it, but not so cheaply made that you'll be guaranteed to hate it. If you stick with it with this recorder for a year or two, you can then decide what you want to do with your playing.

The sound is smoother than the $2.50 plastic recorders given out to myriad school children. But the soprano recorder may sound shrill to your ear anyway (even an expensive wooden one). If you are concerned about that, look at the alto or tenor recorders.

I have used Alfred’s Basic (non-adult) Piano Course for years with my students with great success. When I began to teach an older beginner, I thought I’d try the adult course. I am not as pleased with it. The adult course focuses mostly on chords in the left hand, so one does not learn to read the independent notes as readily in the left hand. The left hand does not get the strength and independence that the right hand does because of this emphasis on chords. Therefor I will be switching back to the regular Alfred Basic (non-Adult) course.

This is a great product for anyone in need of a drum pad “on the go”. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this product as a primary drum pad, but if you’re looking for something a little smaller to just have, this pad is pretty reliable. The only problem I’ve had is that the adhesive is a little loose around the edges which leads to the pad coming up a little every now and then, but that’s no big deal. Overall a great buy!

My boyfriend got this for me. And i love it. It has a nice sound, and i am very pleased. I just wish it had come with some better rosin, it was cracked when i got it. So i recommend getting some rosin for it when you order it unless you already have some. And some cheap strings for the tuneing process >.

My wife is a semiprofessional singer. She sang her way through college on a music scholarship and since graduating does back-up singing for various artists as well as leading songs in our church. When I saw this item in a gold box deal I decided to take a chance and see if it would help her. She was very impressed with all of the features. She was preparing to sing in a wedding for a former college roommate that requested her presence at the wedding. I tend to handle all of the tech stuff in the household so I loaded all of the songs on the player for her and showed her how to use it. After she learned how it worked she was looping parts to songs in no time. One thing I did not like about the device was the interface. It can be very confusing at first trying to find the music on your player. The menu layout is somewhat unorthodox and counter-intuitive. Once you understand how to navigate through it though it gets better. Overall she seemed very pleased.

After taking piano lessons for three years, spending a considerable sum for the teachers time/expertise while utilizing the “lastest teaching method” which I did not care for I almost gave up playing the piano completely. However one day I was looking through a homeschooling catalog when I noticed the “Alfred’s Basic Adult Piano Course”. I liked the review I read of the product and decided to order it. What did I have to loose? I sat down at the piano the very next week with my lesson book, after playing through several of the lessons I was hooked! Alfred’s course takes you back to the fundamental basics of music and piano. After all if you don’t learn the basics you are lost. The lesson book I ordered came with a CD which has been very helpful in doing the lessons. Alfred produces other books to round out the series: finger aerobics, theory, sacred, christmas and greatest hits music. This program is great for those who love independant study or are limited in the amount of time/money they can spend on piano lessons. Alfred also produces a series for children in a kid friendly format,Music for Little Mozart’s, Alfred’s Prep Course, and Alfred’s Basic Piano Course. Alfred makes music fun for everyone!
